Outdoor Education Programs
Dinwiddie County Parks, Recreation & Tourism works with a variety of agencies such as the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VA DGIF) to offer outdoor education programs. These programs include; boater safety education, hunter education, and Family Fun Fishing Days.

Virginia Boater Safety Education Classroom Course - This course is recommended for motivated students 12 years of age and older with good reading and comprehension skills who want to learn more about the fundamentals of safe and responsible boating. Course materials are on a 6th grade reading level.
This course will enable you to become a safe boater who:
- Boats safely
- Respects other boaters
- Obeys the law
- Understands boating laws
Topics covered include:
- Boating operations
- Safe boating practices
- Navigation signs
- Boating responsibilities

Notice: Virginia hunter education self study plus classroom course requires students to complete self-study material prior to class time. Beginning January 1, 2016, all students will submit the self study chapter review exercises to the classroom instructor at the beginning of the class. Some questions on the final test will be covered only in the self-study material. Choose a self-study option below:
